Gender Blending

Posted: August 26, 2005 @ 9:09 pm

I was reading one of my favorite soccer blogs (yes, I follow that other football too) and noticed that it had a thread for women fans. I have lots of lady friends who are manic football fans, but I can’t recall seeing any members of the fairer sex post here since the draft. This thread is for you. Let us know you’re out there. — if you’re out there.

Merriman injured his left knee in the last preseason game. I am so glad we didn’t pick up that chump. Holding out for months and then getting injured. I think its funny that he talked all that smack to the cowboys and now can’t stay on the field. Man, Ware is a class act. I want to destroy Houston!

    Joshette,

I didn’t see that. Does this mean he won’t be able to pay back Dallas for their draft day “slap in the face” come opening day?

No word yet whether he will miss any games.

I don’t think they know the seriousness of the injury yet-but supposedly Gates will be suspended….or will they go backon that for the real games?

It’s a day to day sprain. Merriman says it shouldn’t hold him out too long. But, i bet it keeps him from seeing much time on the field vs the Cowboys. I kind of wish he would play, he’ll be so green and raw, we can take advantage of him.

I think that Merriman won’t be the kind of edge rusher that Ware will become. I have seen film of him and he is nowhere near as Fluid a runner as Ware. I really think he will develop into DE in a 4/3 by his third year. He has that kind of bulk to him.

    Alan:

That’d be dumb… Moving Merriman to DE when SD plays a 3-4, he would need to add like 30 pounds… He’s needed at OLB and that’s what he’s going to play. And his ticket to that position wasn’t ever his fluid running, it was more his power and technique, and that’s why he’s labeled as the Strong side LB. They do have Foley in the other side.

    Chandus,

All good points, but do you see him with the Chargers after 3 years? I just feel he is one of those players who will never feel appreciated by his team/home town fans etc and will try and get moved. His holdout says as much and his ‘Slap in the Face’ comment about the Cowboys adds to my feeling. He just seems like an attitude prob waiting to happen.

My DE comment stems from his body type. He just looks bulky. Like he is going to put on Mass.

in the Heath Miller highlights I saw him DRIVE Merriman and put him on his Back. If a TE can do that imagine what a Tackle or Guard will do to him. Miller is like our own Witten more of a WR masking as a TE.

I never saw Demarcus Ware in college……..but he sure looks special so far. I am glad Bill did his homework. He might well have been the steal of the draft even at 11th overall. Phil Simms thinks so. Merriman goes with the Postons sounds like they deserve each other. I am looking forward to seeing Marcus Spears out on the field too.

Spears, Canty, Ware and Burnett our Defense is going to improve. Watch out for Canty that kid is going to special in his own right too.

Joey2z’s, Chandus, Mr Bill, Fighter15, AW, and the other guys out there who are regs on this blog and know more about football than 99% of the population I have a suggestion. During tonights game could you guys spy one player each and give us your opinion. I know Rafeal give us a great and through breakdown after the game but I think your insights would be almost as interesting.

Oiler Troll on August 30th, 2005 3:22 am

    Hi Everybody!
    Hi Ladies!

Oiler does not know why he feels compelled to write this, but Oiler Trollette called in to report that she bought a Football Weekly to help her with her “chicks league” fantasy football league.

She described the experience akin to a guy buying porn in that she bought it at a grocery store, did not want it to be the only thing she bought so she picked up some other random items (and no, they did not include tampons), and she also placed the magazine face down on the little converyor belt at check-out. Oiler Trollette did not want anyone to see this transaction take place.

Over a telephone conversation, she later flipped through the magazine with Oiler Troll. Oiler Troll’s emotions ranged from tears of joy to funny tingling sensations, but you probably do not want that issue explored any further.

An additional note - Reason 2453 that Chicks are weird: in Oiler Trollette’s FFL, some other woman friend of Oiler Trollette picked a striking name for her team. This friend who always struck Oiler Troll as this cute, petite little darling has chosen “The Ballbreakers” as her team name. Why the hostility, Ladies - why the hostility?

Got something to say?
