I was playing around with the new sitemeter and saw some amazing stats.
Of the last 100 visitors, only eighteen were from Texas. Fourteen of you are visiting from outside the country, from such far flung places as Australia, New Zealand, France, Britain, Germany and the Netherlands. Closer to home, we’ve got a few fans clicking in from Canada and Mexico.
The other 68 of you are from the rest of the continental 48.

I’m in the army in a Germany. I’ve never even been to Texas, but I’ve loved the cowboys since I can remember about 4 or 5 years old. The only game I’ve ever saw was against the Stl. Cardinals in ST. Louis in 1977. Charlie Waters had an interception that basically ended the game. Don’t really post but I read here almost daily.

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since the early 90’s when the triplets were dominating the whole NFL. I stopped watching the Cowboys and basically the whole NFL, until one day my roommate from college told the Cowboys had just signed Roy Williams. I asked him who is Roy Williams? He told me he was a hardcore hitter, so I watched him and never looked back. I love the Dallas Cowboys and I admire Roy Williams’s ability to play. I have the same feeling for Demarcus Ware, hopefully he will step it up a notch. I am residing from Edinburg, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.

‘Boys fan born in Dallas, moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and now live in Orange, Connecticut. Everyday I have to deal with Giants fans and Patriots fans, but I’m sticking to my roots. I’m a 6th generation Texan, and my grandparents had season tickets to the Cowboys from day one. My Grandmother finally had to sell them about 10 years ago, but I still remember goin to the playoff games in the 90s as a kid with my parents and Grandmother. Oh man, go ‘Boys!

i miss the cowboys on tv, although me and another buddy from dallas watched the thanksgiving day game in an irish pub called “fatty’s” and stayed until the finish around 1:30-2:00 am.
Raf… Its true. Born in Philly, now living in DC, and have always been diehard Big D. The question isn’t are they america’s team, but why? Because they were always on TV in the 70’s when the game was coming of age? Was it the cheerleaders? They just seemed larger than life, and people (myself included) latched on for the ride.
Fan since 1990 when given a cowboys baseball cap by my Aunty (who lives in San Diego). Been to US only once, out of NFL season & didn’t get to Dallas. But my girlfriend went to Dallas, and I made her go to the stadium for me. She brought me back stickers, a caricature of the triplets and a life size poster of Emmitt - “Run to Daylight”.
Living in Oz is tough, we are getting Atlanta vs Carolina this weekend. I will still be up at 5am to watch it though as they have “Gamebreaks” that will show the big plays from the cowboys/giants game. I already have week 17 pencilled in, as it is the only Cowboys game left I know for sure that will be shown on TV here.
Pity about missing this weekend, as it should be a good game (made all the better by what’s at stake).

Since I turned 16 & was able to drive I haven’t missed a game. If they aren’t on TV locally, then I go to a sportsbar & watch. From Brisbane Australia, been a cowboys fan for about 14 years, read your blog regularly as it is simply the best analysis of how the games played out. Which really helps in Australia because we don’t always get cowboys games.
i live in washington d.c and have to hear these redskins or as i call them “deadskins” fans talk about how they beat us. i tell them they only beat us 2 out 16 times. they think they’re going to beat us with SUCKtana moss again but just wait. And one more thing did any one here the news about dat. i hope he doesn’t retire. he is my favorite player other then my man roy williams.
I’m from Toronto and I have been a Cowboys fan since my uncles were watching the boys crush Denver in the SuperBowl ‘77? I think.
I grew up in Montana where we usually saw Cowboy games more than any other team. I first became a fan when I happened to see the Cowboys play the Redskins. The Redskins had just ripped off a long run and I remember the Cowboy player running after him. At the 5 yard line the Cowboy dove and tackled the Redskin by his shoes. I thought that was so awesome. I watched some more and then I really got hooked when I saw how the Cowboys would tackle the opponent by diving head first into the pile. That was so cool. I wish it still was legal because it was almost beautiful. I was five then and even though I live in Seattle I root for Dallas. I always will. Even if they sign TO. :-)
I’m also from Mexico, Veracruz to be precise and I’ve been watching the Cowboys since their first SB season in 1992, prior that I watched Buffalo but that second SB lost shaked my attention and luckily Dallas caught my eye in the first game at NY in 1992, been loyal since then.
Born a Cowboys fan in 1972 in Beaumont, Texas. Raised a Cowboys fan in McAllen, Texas. Here in the Rio Grande Valley, the majority of sports fans are Cowboy fans, and those who were Houston Oiler fans, well, we just feel sorry about them. My first memory of a Cowboy’s game was when we beat Atlanta and Steve Bartkowski in a playoff game in the late 70’s or early 80’s. Lived in Austin when our training camp was held at St. Edwards University in Austin, and was able to see future hall of famers during training camp. Hopefully, there are future hall of famers we do not know about on our current team. GO BOYS!
I am an army-brat. Back-in-the-day if you were stationed in Europe your only source for American sports was AFN Radio. For some reason, the 3 teams that were covered on the broadcast were the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees and, of course the Dallas Cowboys. I really didn’t know that anybody else routed for another team. I have loved the cowboys since. And for the first 18 years of my life I had never actually watched them play on TV..just the radio.

I became a fan in 1983 when visiting someone I grew up with who had moved to Dallas.
When I arrived in the US, Dallas were 12-2 and leading the NFC. They then proceeded to get pounded by Washington and SF and then lose in the first round of the playoffs to Eric D. and the Rams. I figured I owed them my support after that…
Then endured the rest of the 80’s until the resurrection in the early 90’s.

TV coverage of last year’s Cowboy games here was against Seattle and New York, and Julius Jones was very impressive.

The first football game I saw was at a friend’s house (Dad wasn’t into sports) and it was the game in 71 or 72 where Staubach came off the bench against the49ers IN THE PLAYOFFS and brought them all the way back from 28-13 to win! I don’t remember, but I bet my friend’s dad was rooting for the 9ers, we live in California. People always ask me how I became a Cowboys fan in Cal.-it’s simple and also how they became “America’s Team”; 1) They had COOL uniforms 2) They ALways won! Almost 20 years in a row? 3) They were ALWAYS on TV 4) they had personalities you could latch on to-Landry, Staubach, Dorsett, White, Too Tall 5) They had so many come-from-behind wins and in major games that were nationally televised! When Longley wins the THANKSGIVING game and does it against the REDSKINS even, 10,000 new fans are born! They werew great to root for, and even the down years were good, because we went so FAR down and used the draft picks so well. I loved it when we were 1-15-rather have that than a bunch of 6-10 seasons. Having Jimmy develop the greatest team ever and winning three more SB’s was icing on the cake…..

I’ve actually been to Dallas, and driven past Texas Stadium, but never to a game. Someday I’ll watch a game there.
I’ve been a Cowboy fan since Super Bowl VI, when Roger Staubach and Co. beat Miami. I still hate Bradshaw and the Steelers! It was great to finally beat them in Super Bowl XXX.
I also spent a lot of time in the Bay Area during the Montana and Young years. I still hate “The Catch” but ironically, I have a ball autographed by Dwight Clark and I had him write “The Ball” on it. LOL!
I loved it when we beat the Niners at Candlestick in the NFC Championship game enroute to winning Super Bowl XXVII, then again in Texas Stadium the following year, enroute to winning Super Bowl XXVIII. It sure was fun celebrating in enemy territory!

Is Dallas Running Out Of Gas?

The team that is at the top of the league in time of possession may be running out of gas.
A car is only as good as its parts. Let’s look at it’s parts and what made it successful earlier in the year.
Flozell - this part was an important cog for several reasons. Flozell was important in the run in that he has played for several years with his counterpart Larry Allen. They have formed a bond that you can’t teach. I wouldnt say they are the most formidable tandem in the league, but they are at least in the top 15. I don’t have to tell you how important the left tackle is to the quarterback also. Flozell was prone to a few misfirings at times but overall he got the job done. He is out for the year as we know and if you want to really judge his worth just look no further than the current situation at left tackle. You know a player is pretty good when what you fear on every play from the replacement is what you only got a small percentage of the time out of the starter. I think all of us would give our right arm to have Flozell back, no matter how bad he may have seemed to play at times this year.
Al Johnson- this part is a funny one. At times this part runs like new, doing it’s job on tough invaders. Able to pull to the right or left and allow us to turn the corner at any given moment. At other times it seems to be non existent, even prone to allow the invaders to attack the engine. An enigma of sorts. Now we hear that the part may need to be replaced due to a breakdown of some sort. I have heard it may be put back in for this Sunday’s showdown on the raceway, but IMO it may have trouble firing at all! We may need to go with a bigger but yet slower firing piece (Gurode).
Patrick Crayton - I hear he is coming back. Who knows at what level. He was important on the run. A very important cog in the wheel for us. An able blocker, able to hold it’s own and stop any invader that came from the 2nd or 3rd line of defense that was running free. Something we didnt have last year. This part was very good finding seams in the passing game in the lanes untouched by others allowing us to get right in there when needed. How long with this part holdup when it comes back from the factory? NO one knows!
Julius Jones - Our fuel. When the engine is running good the fuel will work but when the engine starts to breakdown the fuel just becomes useless. It will even start to become rancid therefore cause it to even become useless even when the engine is fixed!
In missing part of our engine, also with our fuel becoming dirty, who knows if it has been made clean yet, our weaker parts of our engine are becoming even more debilitated due to this.
Rob Pettiti - RT - This weaker part of our engine was a new part. One that was going to get help from other parts all year and kind of get grafted in more to where it wouldnt need as much help. Due to breakdowns mentioned previously that help was decreased and our engine started to shake over there on the right side. He is holding his own at times but due to weaknesses is showing up more on the negative side of invasions.
Jason Witten - TE - this part can get down the track and take advantage of your invaders by pushing them back into areas foreign to them but when it has been time to defend these same invaders, this part has not held up! I believe they need to send this part back to the shop and get it retooled for Sunday’s race. This part need is becoming an enigma also and needs to be able to defend. It is too much of a liability out there.
Polite - FB - this part was supposed to do one job this year. Stop any loose invader that wanted to debilitate our engine and strip us of our fuel. You might say it’s the fuel injector. Our fuel injector IMO has been clogged all year. The job has not got done and it needs to be replaced!
All in all the bottom line of all of this is this: We lost a few of our strengths when it came to the running game, Adams, Crayton, Julius for a bit, Al J with his pulling plays…they were going to negate the weaker parts,,,,Polite, Witten, Pettiti. Now their replacement are the weaker parts. I.E. Tucker, Gurode-unable to pull as well but may hold up better in the passing game. A less than 100% Julius and Crayton doesnt help either. We also have older parts already in LA, Rivera, Bledsoe, Keyshawn, Glenn, and Campbell so I ask you. Are the Cowboys running out of gas? We will see very soon.
I have a friend who’s a Giants fan and he was ragging on the Cowboys by saying that they don’t sellout on their season tickets. I know that if I lived in Dallas, I would buy season tickets.
I am one of your international fans but one that is home grown. Born in Dallas to an original season ticket holder and lucky enough to be at the Cotton Bowl when Dallas played Green Bay for the NFL Championship in 1966. I am checking in now from Switzerland but have taken my fandom to the much more remote Micronesian atoll, Ngatik in the mid-80s as a Peace Corps volunteer. I’d listen to any game I could receive over the Armed Forces Radio Network and read long play by play accounts my father sent. I appreciate the site. Another South Carolina Cowboys fan here for 30 years. I lived in Texas once for 1 yr (Texarkana) Not sure if you can conisder that much of Texas though. I also spend some time in San Antonio for about a year (Military purposes) But now live across the border of NC in SC and I am in Panthers territory. Please Please Cowboys win that game. I hate Panther fans. They are so uneducated on the game of football and it drives me crazy. (oh and please win this Sunday as well)

I’m from big D, but I’m living in Prague now. I go to this great American bar on Sundays and have to argue over which game to watch. There are a lot of Giants fans here, so that means I get to see the game this Sunday.
I’m a Cowboy fan living just outside of Washington DC in N. Virginia. I didn’t really have the option to root for another team due to my Dad’s proclivity to be a contrarian.
He was in the Air Force, stationed in Texas in 1960. As everyone recalls, the early 60’s were not quite the glory years for the team. Cowboy mgmt. set aside free tickets for the servicemen in the area as an act of goodwill and to get some fannies in the seats for the TV cameras. My Dad came from NY where the Giants games were always blacked out, and consequently he never got that attached to them.
Upon moving to DC to work in governemnt during George Allen tenure, he felt it was his duty to root agianst the home team and all the santicmonious “Over The Hill Gang” crap. And Dallas by this time was a winner so it made it doubly sweet.
My first real Cowboy moment was not “The Catch”, but the “The Snag” of Drew Pearson on the ensuing drive (by Ronnie Lot?). If Drew had only had the benefit of the sleeve hugging jersey’s the guy’s were today, we would have had the pleasure of kicking Ken Andersons butt.
I digress…
Go Boys, and let’s reclaim the East on Sunday. About time we had a big intra-divisonal game around here.
Born in the Dallas area ‘73, Lived most of my life in the that area. Spent about a year and a half in New Orleans (during the ‘85 Bears/Patriots super bowl) and spent some time in both northern and southern California (Navy brat) Moved to the New York earlier this year. I love New York, but I miss seeing the Cowboys every week… Though, I will get to see about 9-10 of the 16 games this year. The local cable company doesn’t offer NFL packages and I can’t have a satellite disk on my building. :/

I am from Dallas, but stationed in California with the Army. Every weekend I go to the Local sports bar to watch the game, There are more Cowboys Jerseys in the place than any other team (Including the Raiders).

I’m a Texan living in California, and I was at the 49ers game earlier this season, and I swear that there were more of us there, and after Keyshawn’s tying TD and 2 pt conversion, we were so loud that Tim Rattay gave us credit for the false start the play before Dat Nguyen picked him off to end the game. It’s great to know that I’m not the only one living and dying every Sunday with these cardiac Cowboys.

This is a great Web site! I’ve been a Cowboys fan since they drafted Tony Dorsett. I loved watching the Super Bowl when the ‘Boys beat the Broncoes. I hated the Steelers during those years. I vividly remember watching Dwight Clark jump over Everson Walls to make “The Catch”. I was devestated. The Cowboys of the 90’s were awesome - I’ll never forget Troy, Emmitt and Michael. And I will especially never forget praying that the Cowboys would hire Bill Parcells. The day after I said my prayer, they made the announcement. I was running on my treadmill watching Bill on ESPN walk out of Valley Ranch in his dark blue suite. I screamed! He is the best coach. I trust the guy totally. I want to be optimistic about this year, but injuries are really scaring me. Drew has got to step it up a notch, period. He’s a smart guy; I am surprised to see some of the decisions he’s been making in the second half of the season. I’ve raised my 10 year old son to be a Boys fan. We have so much fun rooting for the Boys. You should have seen my son cry when the Boys lost on Turkey Day. We are greatly anticipating the Giants game. It will be a dogfight!

I remember getting my first jigsaw puzzle when I was seven years old, and it was a Cowboys puzzle. From that day on, before I even understood football , I became a Cowboys fan. That was 31 years ago. I love the Cowboys. They are the most glamourous and exciting team to watch in the entire nfl. GO COWBOYS!!!!!!! Beat Dem Giants.
I am a Texan but stuck in Florida. My sister and I go to a local sports bar every Sunday where we sit with other fans of our boys. And it seems we are the only Texans by birth. However, the other fans are from New York, Virginia, South Carolina.its amazing and I like to think of all these fans as having a Texas heart and I love them all. I always ask cowboy fans when I meet them where they are from and every answer proves to me we are Americas Team. GO COWBOYS!

I grew up in NJ, about three miles from Giants stadium, with my father, uncles and grandfather being Giants fans. I of course became a Cowboys fan at a very young age, sometime in the mid 70’s. I got my little brother into them too, and we are both lifelong, diehard Cowboys fans. I even have season tickets, and fly there as often as possible (I’m living in FL now). GO COWBOYS!
I grew up in Honoulu, Hawaii. When I was about 4 or 5 I ran into Roger Staubach and Tom Landry at the airport. At that age, I had know idea who they were, but my father had me take pictures with them and they autographed my nerf football. My father later explained to me who they were and became a die-hard cowboy fan ever since.
