Making the Cut

Posted: August 30, 2006 @ 4:40 pm

Lots of players are sweating out the final cuts next week but The ‘Boys Blog has passed another audition. The current issue of Texas Monthly, their football special with Troy, Emmitt and Michael on its cover, lists us as one of the “ten [football blogs] we like.”

Thanks to all of you who have helped us grow in the past eighteen months.

Congrats to all who make this site what it is. We have our “homers”, a..holes, and some damn fine analysts of the game of football. Even our “homers” seem to have more class than most of the other blogs for other teams that I have occasionally visited.

This site is the Cowboys bible as far as I’m concerned. Always my first stop when I’m checking in on the ‘Boys. Barely visit the official site and media sites now. For the first time, sitting in Oz, felt really connected to what was happening in training camp.

Due to great analysis by Raf and Raul and guest posters. And then invariably insightful responses from many of the posters.

Occassional flame wars are annoying but I reckon they happen less on this site then on other sports blogs I’ve been on which regularly descend from insight to name-calling.

Great work - keep it up. Its much appreciated.

    Can somebody please explain “homers”

    Cuervo,

Homers are people who will make every excuse for their team despite the obvious to put the team in a positive light.

For instance. If Owens punched Parcells dead in the mouth during practice, there are some that would call that progress, a sign that TO and BP are really starting to come together and that his hamstring must be healing. Those people would be homers.

    Homer:

Michael Irvin stabbing Everett Mckiver with scissors just proves that he is head coaching material. Mike is clearly man enough to look a player in the eye and cut him.

It’s good when the only problem I have with this site is getting that doubtful look or feeling from people when I suggest it to them, or simply tell them I’m a member. “No no, it’s not really an ordinary blog,” I say, as I continue to explain more about it.

One thing though, I am curious to learn a little more about Raf’s history with football. Just so I know how he’s come to be so educated in the sport, along with Cowboys history.

Congrats guys you deserve to be rewarded for your hard work.

On the subject of “homers” I’m in Pennsylvania where the Eagle fans have to be the worst homers anywhere. It’s sickening to hear them
predict super bowl victory every year regardless who their QB is, Mcnabb or Pete Liske.
