Site Problems update

Posted: August 30, 2006 @ 5:09 pm

Yes, everybody, by now you have noticed that you have to refresh the page after you post. This is a problem that arose after our hosting company upgraded software (PHP, for you techies). It is causing one of our caching plug-ins to, well, burp.

They are looking into the problem and I am trying to search Knowledgebases to see if it has been reported. We are going to move the site this weekend to a high-CPU server which should help performance.

I have two options - leave it as is and force you guys to refresh (yes, annoying) or disable the plug-in and occasionally receive the dreaded CPU Threshold Exceeded message. I’ll let you know what I find out when I get any news…

Again, sorry for the degradation of your Cowboys blogging experience…

    Raul,

FYI, I have been having problems viewing the site the past few days. .. When I finally got on, can’t help but notice the low volume of comments posted. So I guess I am not the only one.

    Cash:

The software is a popular blog scripting application. The problem is a caching plug-in that, it appears, has issues with PHP 5.1.6 — I disabled the plug-in thinking it would be better to have an occasional CPU error than the continual blank page.

    Raul,

Have you reported the issue at php.net?

Well, I can’t say I know much about this php nonsense. I will brag however that I found out today I’m going to the final preseason game. Glad to hear BP’s letting his starters play a little. 40 YARD LINE BABY!!

    Cash:

I have not reported it because it does not appear to be native to PHP, just the plug-in. I have reported it on the Wordpress support forums.

    Jesse -

I believe you can log on to http://www.theticket.com and listen at that site. They are the local Dallas Cowboys radio network. Whenever I don’t like the television broadcast team, I tune in to that station for the game broadcast.

    Good luck.

I think DC.com is broadcasting the radio feed for all games this year too. At least I thought I heard them say that when I was listening to the game last Saturday night?

You guys are doing a great job on here. Dont worry about the glitch. How hard is it just to refresh our directions?

Maybe its the Jeff George signing. Maybe its the Vikings and their old qb Brad Johnson. Maybe its how bad Favre looked on Monday. But doesn’t it seem that the ENTIRE league has QB-WR-PASSING GAME issues this year except for us and a few others?

I would only put teams in the Great Very Good or Good Passing Offense category and the are:

Great - Indy, Cincinnati, New England

    Very Good - Carolina, Dallas,

    Good- Seattle, NYGiants, Pittsburgh, Denver.

Everyone else has issues. New QB, new WRs, players with potential but not performance, injuries, new head coaches and coordinators, etc., etc.

Even the teams in my ‘good’ category have their issues.

Bring back Dan Fouts, Richard Todd, Steve Bartkowski, Bradshaw, Staubach, D White, Montana, Ken Anderson, Simms, McMahon, Thiesmann, Lynn Dickey, Elway, Moon, Esiason, S Young, R Cunningham, Joe Ferguson, Jim Kelly, Brian Sipe, Kosar, Pat Haden, JEverett, B Hebert, etc., etc., and lets get some passing games out there!!!
