I must say that regardless of what happens from here on out, I’m excited about seeing what Romo has, and I’m hopeful that even if he’s not the starter for years to come, that he proves to be a valuable backup.

    3rd!
To continue a discussion, Bladsoe ain’t gona be startin for nobody next year. So he can choose to be a backup (and be one twisted knee away from poss. redemption) or retire.
What team is going to have him start or give a draft pick?
So-if he’s smart, he’ll accept his role, take the $money$ and and wait. And I think he’s smart.
Now, if we draft a young guy with a lot of potential, he’s gone, but that seems very unlikely.

mlittle, Two years ago on this blog when I first stated that Romo would one day be the starter ,everyone thought I was crazy. All he did was out play Bledsoe and Henson in every pre-season game and had commentators such as Aikman,Laufenburg,Phil Simms and John Madden glow about his talent. This guy is beast and has a refuse to lose attitude. He spreads the ball around and scans the field much better than Bledsoe.Aikman took 29 games as a starter to show promise, this will be Romo’s first. He has an unbelieveable mastering of the playbook so don’t be surprized to see some new plays. He’ll make mistakes, but his talent will see through. He’s going to suprize alot of people! Cowboys 34 Panthers 24!!!

    jkdallas on October 29th, 2006 6:29 pm

Interesting stat that probably means nothing: P. Manning reached 35,000 passing yards in 135 games, just behind Marino (134 games) and ahead of Bledsoe (145). Followed by Farve and Moon at 147.

    Just so you know.

Rafael Vela on October 29th, 2006 6:33 pm

    jkdallas,

One interesting point about that list:

total Super Bowl wins for Manning, Marino, Bledsoe, Favre and Moon COMBINED = 1.

And every one of those guys save Blesoe is either in Canton or will be in Canton someday.

  8. 8
Rafael Vela on October 29th, 2006 6:36 pm

One more thing. Total Super Bowls played by that list is only four.

Favre played in two. Bledsoe started one. Marino played in one. Manning and Moon have none to their name. And every one of them has played at least 12 years. Peyton hasn’t played that long, but barring injury, he will.

    jkdallas on October 29th, 2006 6:37 pm

    Raf:

Nice. And what, 4 Super Bowl appearances?

    jarhead on October 29th, 2006 6:38 pm

    rafael,
take away a KO return for 6 by desmond howard and maybe favre doesnt get his SB win.

  12. 12
    Dave on October 29th, 2006 6:40 pm

Yeah, but if Favre doesn’t get that one then Bledsoe would. They played against each other that year.

Our defense will probably look silly against Peyton, but I’m kind of looking forward to running the football against the Indy defense. They look worse than we did last week.

    mlittle on October 29th, 2006 7:31 pm

As a new participant on this website, I must say that I was there at Lincoln Financial Field October 8th to watch us lose to the Eagles. I sat next to a guy who drank way too much, screamed so loud his face turned red and spit flew out of his mouth. In fact, most of the fans in the nosebleed section that day met this same description.

That being said, It is almost as much fun to watch the Eagles now as it is to watch us win. I can’t help but thinking about these people and how miserable they are right now.

  22. 22
    onepaniolo on October 29th, 2006 7:33 pm

I’m glad Philly lost. If we win this game, we’ll be in 2nd place just one game behind NY. This is a must win for us not only for being 4-3 vs 3-4, but for Romo’s confidence. Tough road trip, so we need to get off to a good start.

    Go Cowboys!!!!!

  23. 23
    onepaniolo on October 29th, 2006 7:34 pm

emrdog, I’m with you man! This is nerve wracking time for sure!

  24. 24
    mike on October 29th, 2006 7:38 pm

i got a lil nerves going right now, but i also know this is romos first start. im assuming we will start slow and hell pick it up in the 2nd quarter.

if romo has a bad half does DB come back in?

  25. 25
    emrdog on October 29th, 2006 7:41 pm

i think parcells will stick with romo for the game baring a huge meltdown…i think he may have learned a leasson about switching at the half…

  26. 26
    onepaniolo on October 29th, 2006 7:48 pm

I think this is Romo’s game to win or lose. I think he’s going to start the rest of the way to see if he is indeed the future QB, or if we need to draft one. If we do need to draft one, then it means our season went south and we’ll draft high. I hope Romo makes all that a moot point, so we can concentrate on the O-Line and FS this off-season.

  27. 27
    onepaniolo on October 29th, 2006 7:50 pm

Here’s a telling stat. We’re 3-3, yet I believe our defense is ranked 8th and our offense is ranked 4th. It’s all those damn turnovers! I hope we turn that around tonight!

  28. 28
    mike on October 29th, 2006 7:51 pm

i think fs we are ok at, watkins should improve if not then yes its a concern. hes has everything you need physically, just needs to learn to judge the ball better.

o-line is all we should draft next year. jk sorta

  29. 29
    jarhead on October 29th, 2006 7:54 pm

    onepaniolo:

post 27: AMEN. Finally, someone calls out our turnovers and not our defense.

  30. 30
    mike on October 29th, 2006 7:57 pm

mental mistakes has been the downfall thus far. turnovers and mental lapses. thats the reason for all 3 losses. not like weve been shutout. or even dominated. the pilly game we were beatin good but take away the mental errors and turnovers and we win that game

I think Parcells should give Vanderjagt a simple choice. Miss another kick and you have 2 choices: Leave this team or let one of the superfans from The Boys Blog kick you in the nuts.

This team sucks in every phase of the game. Face it, we are a bad team. We are heading for a top 15 draft pick again next year. Time to get all the rookies involved and figure out what we have. Let Romo wing it and see if we can do anything. It is really early in the season to say this, but we have absolutely no heart, so I can’t see us turning it around.

  201. 201
