Whee!!!!!!!!!! 1st!!!!!!!!
Wheeeeeeeee we’re 2-0!!!!!!!!!!!
Garcia is 3-0 against the Giants in the playoffs - including that Bizarre 49′ers-Giants playoff game a few seasons ago.
A couple of responses from the previous thread…
I think the other QB besides Delhomme to win his first playoff game in the past couple of years was Brady. Roethlisberger also won his first playoff start.
Raf, as for a bowling-ball-type RB, I think the dude from Oregon (Jonathan Stewart) is that type. Short, stocky, and explosive. Rice from Rutgers might also fit that billing, but he might not be that fast. I’m a Cal fan, but I don’t think Justin Forsett would be a good pick. He’s a quick, shifty guy, but lacks power and I don’t think he’ll be able to grind out the tough yards between the tackles; he almost reminds me of Julius Jones.
Illinois’s Mendenhall also appears to be coming out early for the draft. An early Yahoo mock draft had us taking a DB with our 1st 1st round pick and the OT from USC (Sam Baker) with our 2nd 1st round pick.
As for the Foreskins, I’m glad they’re done. Everything about them reeks of obnoxiousness. From their fans, players, owner, beat reporters, urinals, you name it…they stink! One of my old roommates is a Foreskins fan and he used to assimilate other weaker-minded (non-affiliated) members of our fraternity to become fans. And he’d used to tell them how the Cowboys were evil or some BS like that. “Evil” teams? Puh-lease! They had my sympathy and respect after the tragic death of Taylor, but all my sympathy and respect for the TEAM went out the window when Landry cheap-shotted TG.
As for today’s games…I think TB wins, Garcia should be able to neutralize the Giants pass rush with his scrambling abilities, unless he runs around too much and gets knocked out of the game.
And SD wins the other game unless Phillip Rivers leads LT right into an oncoming Keith Bullock, knocking him out of that game.
So, I think tomorrow’s winners will be TB and SD.
I’m 2-0 thus far and got my broom ready looking for the sweep today,
New york over Tampa
San Diego over Tennessee
Derrick,
I hope you are wrong, we really don’t want to play the Giants again. They know us too well. They may not have our athletes, but they know how to play our athletes and our schemes.
I think TB will be overwhelmed by our team speed, especially if TG and TO both play. They will have no answer for Witten or Barber. The Tampa 2 will make Witten the star of the game.
The Giants even without Shockey will keep it close IMO. Frankly, either team is in trouble if Dallas comes out ready to play. Too much talent.
I would definitely feel more comfortable playing Tampa Bay than the Giants again. What’s the chances of us beating them 3 times in one season?
Does anybody know the stats on a team beating somebody in their division 3 times?
Gee, I’m 1-1. Really was hoping we would get the chance to wipe that smirk off little Danny’s face. Oh well…
Oh yeah did I mention I am 2-0 right now?
If the Giants play anything like they played the Patriots, Tampa is going to have their work cut out for them.
But while I don’t see that happening, I still expect a close game.
28-27 Bucs.
Few Draft Things
I really like Leodis McKelvin CB
The RB partner to MB3 needs to be Chris Johnson who I’ve been talking about for months now. Perfect compliment and great returner as well. Best thing is he’s a very good receiver. You can motion the guy and with 4.3 speed beat any LB or Safety on the field.
I do NOT like Desean Jackson. Well, not in the 1rst or even the 2nd. I’d take him in the late 3rd. If anyone takes him in the first, they are gonna be sorry. He is way over hyped.
There is a RB who reminds me a lot of a Cowboy great and the ALL-TIME rushing leader, Emmitt Smith. Watch Ray Rice. There is something about the guy reminiscent of Emmitt
NFL
How does a guy caught of cheating during this NFL season win the Coach of the Year award?
Seriously. What’s up with that? And Roger Goodell wants a good clean league which sends good messages to the kids.
Well, kids, the NFL message of the day is its ok to CHEAT to get ahead.
Considering that Belicheck’s cheating may have affected games which people placed bets on, I’m searching out bettors who lost money in any PATIOTS game and file a class action lawsuit against Bill Belicheck, the Patriots, and the NFL.
I can not stand him and Mr. I AM NOT GAY Tom Brady who just happens to date Super models because he is gay and can’t tell the truth because it may cause trouble in the locker room…at least with his Center. Please note. I have no issue with him being gay. Its fine with me. I have issues with all the lies. The lies being his sexuality and the denial of benefitting from cheating.
I really do think Jacksonville or San Diego will knock off New England but I hope not because I really want to see Dallas do it in the SuperBowl.
Finally, why is Jerry being so nice. He could have kept Ireland if e really wanted.
Do NFL rules require a team to have a single Head Coach? Can a team have Co-Head Coaches? Head Coach of Offense & Head Coach of Defense. I’ve never seen such a thing but curious if its legal
jerry jones is not stupid. a man with that much money tends to know a thing or two. if he was too happy to oblige and let jeff ireland go, then there was a reason for it. i’m pretty damn sure we’ll never find out and that’s fine with me. when it comes to winning the super bowl, i trust jerry jones more than anyone. you think he’s in this for money? please. this guy wipes his ass with benjamin franklins instead of toilet paper. he’s getting old. he wants more rings. whatever decision he makes, there’s a reason for it.
and if it’s not too late, i say cowboys over colts in the title game.
but if it happens to be cowboys vs patriots in the super bowl.. my god that will set a new record for most watched television event since cable was invented.
Jerry let Ireland go, because he was returning the favor to Wayne Huizenga. Remember, Wayne didn’t have to let Jason Garrett go to Dallas last year either, but he did.
Patriots vs Cowboys would definitely set a new record. Not only in the ratings, but 6 Lombardi’s as well to join these 5….
Turbo, I was kinda under the impression we wanted a change of pace small quick back like Julius with the assumption that Barber was our franchise/ grinder back. If Barber is our lead back then I would look to the 3rd or 4th round for our change of pace guy. That leaves us with top picks for more pressing needs. CB, S, WR, and LT seem to be the more pressing needs before the free agancy period.
I know its true and has been said a thousand times that JJ would prefer a WR in FA than draft one but if no deal gets done I dont see how he could ignore one in the 1st round.
I havent seen alot of Desean but what I have seen you cant coach. He is very explosive and fast and seems to get good seperation. He does seem to disappear at times but is it scheme, QB, or him. He is a guy I want to look into after the season. Their are many other too.
Im happy to report that Im 1 and 1. I was following an old gambling trick that you ride a streak until it ends. I just didnt trust Jax in a big spotlight game. I am happy they won because I have no love for Pitt. I have met DelRio and he is as good a guy as you will find.
Irreland was allowed to go cause ultimately their was nothing we could have done that wouldnt have ruined a good working enviroment. He just help run the talent evaluation, he didnt make the picks. We have a tendency to make certain up and coming coaches and players better than they are. Anyone remember what fools we were for not finding a way to keep Sean Payton here last year. ASnyone want him back after this year. EVERY FA he bought in bombed or he wouldnt play them and his 1st round guy he wouldnt even put in at the end of the season to at least get a few plays under his belt to build upon for next year. Im sorry but you have to get him some plays sometime. You are married to this guy with a big contract, you have to find a way to get him on the field to learn even if its special teams.
i hope giants win today.
I REALLY, REALLY want to see giants-cowboys. i’ve enjoyed them since i started watching football and i still do. it’s not the regular season anymore. it’s the playoff. it’s all about style points now. style wise, i want cowboys to beat the giants, then seattle, then patriots. i say seattle because it would be sweet to get some revenge and provide some closure for romo. realistically wise, it’s probably giants, packers, and colts.
I’ve seen a number of posts over the past couple of weeks where people have voiced concerns over facing certain teams.
They’re the #1 seed they should beat anyone no matter who it is that comes into Texas Stadium. As far as the Giants knowing them too well, that also works both ways, WP and Garrett and company know them too. If they happen to play the G-men then they would come in minus Shockey which means RW’s poor coverage becomes less of a factor. If it’s TB then they come in with an O that doesn’t produce a lot of points and have a very avg. rushing attack.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!
So I was 1-1, who cares, the Redskins lost and I was Glad to be wrong on that!
Just like I’ll be glad to be wrong about the Giants winning.
But I don’t know where TB’s offense will come from…..
CowboyMan was right a while ago-It doesn’t matter that Shockey is out, our D will make any TE look good!
Larry, I laugh half of the times I read your posts. Im so glad your not doing my evals at work I would have to give money back. If you cant have just a little confidence with a 13-3 record.
QBs win in the playoffs and Garcia with his scrambling ability is my only concern. When our pass rush isnt on, we look average on pass D. With a mobile QB he can buy the extra time he needs. I think Eli will work out to be a decent QB(I know Im the only one)but Garcia is better. There is also “D wins championships” and the Bucs have that as well. We can beat them but we will need the Pt Romo showed against Detroit and not the one in Buffalo.
Larry,
Sometimes I scratch my head at some comments on here. Our D will make any TE look good?
While Dallas’s defense isn’t the 2000 Baltimore Ravens, its not a horrible defense.
Matter of fact there is only one tightend I remember just completely gashing Dallas, and that was Shockey in the second Dallas game.
While Chicago’s tightends did OK against Dallas, its not like they completely destroyed them.
Chris Cooley did good agains them, but so far the only two tightends that beat up on them are probowlers or former probowlers, who have made alot of teams look bad.
Dallas is the 13th rated pass D, 6th rated rush D, 13th rated scoring D, and 9th Total.
All of that includes a meaningless game against the Redskins at the end, and a few games without Terrence Newman.
I’m just saying, maybe a slight overreaction.
Garcia scares me. I remember him playing for San Jose State, since I lived in the Bay Area at that time. He’s a local boy, from Gilroy, CA, south of San Jose, who’s done really well.
I like Jeff Garcia, and the added dimension of mobility and shiftinesshe brings to any team, much like our own Romonator. That’s why he’s scary. Then there’s that Tampa defense………
We may fare better facing Eli a third time, but I think we will still beat either one of these potential adversaries. However, I’d rather face Eli one more time.
:dietbb:

“shiftiness he…”
Our defense is stout, but our offense still needs to put a lot of points on the board, because our defense has a propensity for giving up quick-strike points.
I will still take this defense over the one we had at the end of 2006.
Squid, I wasn’t saying I wanted them to lose because I don’t want to play them-
I’m talking about as a Cowboys fan the Joy of watching teams I hate lose-
Pittsburgh, Redskins, Giants, Eagles, 49ers.
You know, schanedferude!
But I’ll stand by my comment about our pass D and a weaknes in that middle zone coverage, and it’s not just Roy, there’s a lack of speed there. That’s why Burnett comes in on 3rd downs!
Watching Garcia, I would way rather play the Giants.
what a boring game…
Well, there’s the Bucs running game. The O-line looks pretty good right now for the Bucs.
I guess I just don’t care which one we play. I know Larry doesn’t have much faith in this team but I think we went 13-3 for a reason. We’ve got a damn good team here and for the first time in weeks they’re going to have something to really play for. The Giants may be a little easier of an opponent just because I think we match up with them better. I already know what they’re going to do. 1st play-run Jacobs. 2nd play-50 yard bomb to Burress. 3 step drops will rule the game to fight off our pressure. It will be up to our coaching staff to let our DB’s play press coverage to fight off those slants.
I will agree with Larry on the TE thing a little. I think our D is getting better all the time but they’re still going to let those athletic type of TE’s cause some trouble. Coverage is still not the strength of our LB’ing corps.
Does anyone remember when we played the Bucs in BP’s first year?? Hambrick was starting back then and I remember how he was so bad, our whole running game was so bad, that we couldn’t even get 1 or 2 yards consistently. I remember one drive where we needed 1 yard or so and Ronde Barber blitzed off the edge on 2nd down and took Hambrick down in the back field and he fell forward for no gain. Then we ran the same play on 3rd down and Barber did the same thing. Tackled Hambrick before he could even get to the line of scrimmage. Watching how they’re coming off the edge against the Giants and Jacobs, with the Giants unable to block them, reminds me of that game.
Yeah Kameleon, but those athletic te’s tear up every defense, you know?
I’m not as scared of Garcia right now, as some are. He’s shifty, but then again he also doesn’t have near the weapons around him that he did with the Eagles. I also think the fact that Dallas has a good pass rush is a plus.
I honestly believe that the Giants pass rush is somewhat overrated, most of their sacks game in one game against the Eagles.
I’m not exactly sure what the Giants are doing with Jacobs. You’ve got a RB with the size of a DE and you keep trying to bounce him outside??
AFB, that’s true, but I watch them mostly against the Cowboys. They can do it to other teams all they want. LOL. Cooley and Shockey always save their best game for us. Good thing neither of them is in the playoffs anymore.
I think alot of it Kam, is that their without Snee, so Tampas front four is just killing their guards.
Is it me or are the Giants and the Redskins some of the most talkative teams in the NFC?
They talk so much trash.
I saw London Fletcher made a comment like “we thought we were going to play dallas again, and we knew what would happen then” Really?
I mean seriously London you went 1-1 against Dallas and won the second one with nothing on the line for the Boys. How ignorant can you be?
I hope they remain tied for about 6 quarters and completely drain each other physically and emotionally.
And take each others starting QB’s out as well staubach?
Oh and about this Tampa Bay defense.
I feel honestly like they might be a tad overrated as well. As far as their passing defense goes.
They got to play Atlanta and Carolina twice and the Titans. All have zero to no passing skills at all this year.
AFB, I feel the same way. I love the Deadskins losing, and the symbology of losing by 21 points was priceless, but I would have love a chance to shut their mouths ourselves.
It would really piss me off when I’d hear some of the mediots bitch about Crayton talking smack, about how they haven’t proved anything, and totally ignore the crap that spewed out of the mouths of Deadskin and Giant players. What the hell have they proven?? Smack talk is all they can bring to the field I guess.
AFB, all that’s true but you sure won’t hear that from any of the mediots. The Beagles hang a total of 10 points on us and McNabb tore our D up but the Pats D can give up 35 points to Sheli and they’ve got a championship D.
Anybody else feel that this game is very slow and boring? I don’t think either team goes very far. Giants look like they will pull the upset though. Either way, whoever wins, their season ends next week.
Imagine this TR, TO, TG, PC, JW, MBIII. We are going to murdalize them. I really hope TG is back to his old self, because that is going to definitely jump start our offense again. No way can a defense cover all these guys. Somebody will be open, I promise you.
Next week couldn’t come sooner. But I’ll let the guys have another week to heal up some more.
Giants started very slow but have recovered. Bucs started fast but hit the wall. Are they through already? Galloway looked like he had arm trouble when running to the locker room.
big stop by the bucs d right there..of course the giants penalties helped too
Bucs better score here. The Giants have figured out Kiffin’s D and are ripping it with short passes.
If the Gints win then I hope they keep pounding Jacobs. I’d like for him to be wore out by next week.
The whole key is how much pressure you can get on Sheli. When the Bucs were in the backfield he wasn’t doing so hot. He just went to those quick throws and some dump offs to Jacobs to beat the pressure. I just think that as much as everyone makes of this Bucs D, especially their pass D, the Tampa 2 isn’t the right type of D to stop Sheli. You’ve got to play press coverage with the Gints WR’s to beat the slant and quick passes.
Is Galloway back out there?? That’s another thing with this Bucs team. You’ve got a playmaker at WR, a deep threat, but your QB doesn’t have much of an arm. A west coast QB with a Fun ‘n Gun type WR. Eventually they’re going to have to try to go over the top on this Gints D and attack their biggest weakness, their secondary.
Well, they tried to go over the top to Galloway but Garcia just doesn’t have the arm to do it. Gonna have to get it out quicker than that.
Boy did Jeff waste that drive.
graham takes ‘em down there and garcia gives it back to the gnats…
1) I’m not the only guy on this site who’s expressed some doubts after the last 4 weeks. Sheesh.
Many posters have expressed doubts about facing the Giants again.
2) I was as confident as anyone after we beat GB. What a 3-week stretch. Canty was adding to Ellis and Ware and our D was looking better and better.
I thought we were going to smoke Detroit. Read my posts from that week.
Well, we barely beat Detroit.
We barely beat a sorry-ass Carolina team with a FA QB off our practice squad!
And we got whipped by Philly.
You guys can live in Fighter’s fantasy world where the Cowboys are unbeatable-I live in Football World, where our team is very good, has as a good a chance as anyone to advance to the SB, but is vulnerable.
it’ll be Eli fora thrid time I guess….
Heads-up men! Here come the Giants!
The Giants don’t look too bad, but at the same time, the Bucs look a bit uninspired. I guess the Barber brothers should have tried to inspire the Bucs rather than talk smack on Eli and the Giants.
With that said, in both games from yesterday, we all saw some furious rallies.
Looks like it will be Romo Vs. Eli again.
We beat them twice already, what’s a third time?
Chargers beat Tennessee tonight.
4 teams eliminated.
Which leaves:
Jacksonville
NE
************
Dallas
Giants
************
Greenbay
Seattle
************
Chargers
Colts
My predictions are as follows:
NE beats Jacksonville
Dallas beats Giants
Greenbay beats Seattle
Colts beat Chargers
Anybody know if Madison will be out next week? That could be big for us if so…
Strahan is hurt…even bigger…
I can’t recall the Cowboys ever playing the Giants in the post-season. I know we’ve played Philly and the Redskins several times each, but can’t think of a single time with the giants. Is that right?
Any predictions on a Bucs upset with 3:25 left to play?
well, the bugs let me down. time to make it 3-3 against the giants.
bostonfan,
its never been done.
I find that amazing given both their histories. One more reason to look forward to this game!
Eli come get your whooping!!!

yup. think of it this way. we beat them in their first game this this season. we’ll beat them in their last game of the season. it has a whole “circle of life” sound to it.
So I’m ready for next Sunday. I think our big o-line can punish the giants defense and without Shockey bailing out eli two or three times we’ll be able to get some early seperation going into the 3rd quarter.
Bring on the Giants. I predicted a Bucs win, but am happy we get the Giants. Now we have to get everyone healthy for the game next Sunday.
OK, I’m 2-1.
Yesterday, we saw a Seattle team that lost its last game of the season win against a hot Washington team.
Today, we saw a Tampa Bay team that lost its last two games lose to a hot New York Giants team that played hard and almost beat the undefeated Patriots.
Will we see a Dallas team plays like Seattle, or will we see one that plays like Tampa?
We will find out next Sunday!
boom baby!
:bash_jints:
Wait a minute Larry,
I don’t think anyone is saying that Dallas doesn’t have weakness’s. You’d be a fool not to say that.
Dallas did get beat up by Philly and they survived a desperate Detroit team. I don’t think that the win in Carolina was really that bad though, considering that they beat Seattle the week before that. Moore only completed like a little over 50% of his passes in the game against Dallas and Romo completed around 70% alot of the game without TO. I kind of felt like that game was one where Dallas got up and just decided to run the ball as much as possible. Which they did.
I feel like I’m pretty realistic. I got to see the Dallas ass kicking by the Patriots live, so TRUST me, I know that Dallas isn’t unstoppable. I also know that their defense doesn’t make every Tightend look like a superstar. They have had good tightends look like… good tightends.
Personally, right now I’m more concerned with the offense coming out and looking good then the defense. Defense might win championships, but its alot easier to win games when Romo is on.
I’m 2-1 as well. I wasn’t really impressed with Tampa Bay’s defense.
I said in an earlier post that I thought that they were severely overrated and they didn’t show me anything to think otherwise. They got zero pressure on Manning most of the day.
BullDog, “Circle of Life” LOL
Eli is looking more confident these last 2 games.
Anyone else notice he’s borrowed Romo’s “shoulder-fake” to throw the safeties off ??
I saw it agaiinst NE and again today…..
I pick the Boys to win, but we’d better get off to a good start.
Whichever team pressures the passer more will win, I think it’s that simple. Neither us nor the Giants are going to have long drives running the ball, except maybe in the 4th qtr.
And even though the media love to talk about the Giants’ rush, having Canty back really gives us a more consistent passrush.
On paper, at least.
Pressure the QB, get Turnovers, you win.
The Tampa Bay Succaneers Suck!
I missed that one. Oh, well.
Don’t sing it, bring!
Agreed, the Giants pass rush is very overrated. They pressure bad offensive lines well, but other then that they are just an average pass rush.
AFBrat, I agree on that-we need our offense back.
The Giants will score, we need to put up points.
No one knows what TO’s status will be. He’ll probably play, but how effectively?
No one knows how TG will be. Will he really do anything?
I hope Romo is relaxed and confident….
Let’s not make too much out of the NYG victory over Tampa. Tampa ended the season ranked 18th in total offense. I doubt they’ll have the same success against Dallas’ massive offensive line and the 3rd ranked offense, #2 in scoring. The Cowboys will outscore the Giants, no matter the final scoring total. FWIW, NYG’s offense is ranked 16th. Not much better than Tampa.
stand by bloggers and boys fans,
the last time we played the gints, all we heard about was how much their defense had improved, how we really had no chance.
this week, we’ll hear about how “hot” eli and the giants are, how they have ALL the momentum. we’ll hear about how our coaches spent all last week interviewing and how romo hasn’t done much at all in december.
leading the charge will be the local sportswriters in dallas, constantly reminding us about our struggles and our problems and about the dark clouds over the ranch.
frankly, i’d rather have it that way than with no one giving the gints a chance. that was the skins approach, no one gives the seahawks a chance, look where that got them.
Larry’s right. It’s going to be the pass rush that decides this game. To me that means Strahan for the Giants. If Columbo can handle Strahan this time alone then we can put Witten out with Glenn and TO. Last game we had to use Witten as a blocker. Look for that to change hopefully.
In regards to our pass rush, it’s going to come down to our secondary. Does Wade play press coverage more this game?? That’s what it’s going to take to beat Sheli. He’s going to be trying to get the ball out quickly with his 3 step drops, running slants with his WR’s, and it’s going to take tight coverage to take that away.
jarhead,
I was thinking the same. It was already apparent on Fox where Howie was talking about the roll Eli has been on and how the Patriots game was his best game as a pro and how they’ve got momentum. Hell, I’ll be surprised if Dallas is even favored to win the game. LOL
Jarhead,
Exactly. They will say “it’s hard to beat a team three times”. Blah, blah, blah… I hope they do say all that crap. You are exactly right.
Osi Umenyoira said after their last beat down that the “Giants were better”. Let the NY Football Idiots run their mouths. Don’t say a word Cowboys. We know they don’t respect us.
I have a dang good football team. They are going to play their rear-ends off!
First, take away their run. That is the first priority as we all know.
Double Burress. Newman played him a whole lot last game. Take him away. Newman plus a double team should negate him when he is on the outside. That means Phillips has to be willing to flip Newman. He better. Also, Newman did a number on Toomer in the slot.
Get the lead early. Throw the first punch by scoring the first TD, and unleash Ware and his friends.
with all our coaches doing the Miami 2step interview process…..and Garret most coveted by NYG I am glad we play the GMen.
We beat em twice already and the 2nd game was not all that close.
They don’t have blowhard Shockey…..and some of their D is beat up. So what Eli had a decent game against the BUCS…..Spags should have given em pretty good playbook on the BUCs since it is the Eagles Defense of Jim Johnson.
I don’t think it is going to be a game.
TO will be back.
Glenn will be on the field for 3 wide reciever sets.
TNEW plays, Rat plays, Gurode plays……we are healthy and young on defense.
Dallas 38
Giants 17
Well here goes my first post after being a voyeur for the last two years. A few points- what roll are the giants on ? They are 2 and 2 over there last four games. Do you really think that the boys were concerned with much of anything the past three weeks? I am a glass half full guy - and I think that Garrett was playing it close to the vest in anticipation of the playoffs and matchups. They have know that they were a top two seed for almost a month. I also wouldn’t expect anyone from Fox to overhype a game that they are covering next week. I don’t think it would help them if they say it’s gonna be a blowout. This team has answered every challenge this year( Giants, Packers, three straight division games) and next week will be no different. On a funny note- I live outside of Philly and it’s been great wathcing the Eagles fans have to keep their mouths shut. Now they will have to hear from Giants fans as well. Keep the faith fellas- We should be heading to Arizona !!!!!!
Sparano is going to be the next HC of the Dolphins.

Good points everyone. Howie on Fox even brought up a stat about how hard it is for a team to beat another team 3 times in a season. Hell, they didn’t think we could beat them the first two times. Terry talked about how well Sheli plays the Cowboys especially at Dallas. Didn’t Romo throw 4 TD’s against them in NY?? And another 4 against them in Dallas?? This whole game is going to come down to whether or not our pass D can take away their slants and Sheli’s 3 step drops and whether or not our pass rush can get there before Sheli finds her 2nd option.
Get ready for it folks, the media is going to have a field day this week. Just like the last time we played them.
Bring em on ..
http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/83775
Eli threw for 185 yards. Why are analysts are getting all excited about what his game? I didn’t see the game so maybe I’m missing something. I guess he didn’t look completely confused or throw his typical game killing interceptions. Basically, it looks like he was the prototypical bus driver quarterback. Big deal. If Romo had those stats, I bet a fair number of us would be worried about our faltering offense. If that’s the best Eli’s got, we have nothing to worry about, because the best Romo has is about 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Geeze, I’d of been fired from my job for being wrong as much as the mediots are. Thank God for NO-Accountablity amongst the knowitalls. Tennessee has no chance? Their 6 may hold up.
bostonfan, no invites to the Mannings for dinner if you’re hard on Eli. If Eli didn’t have the pedigree they’d be trashing him like hell. Romo & Co. will make it all right next Sunday.
Agreed! I just think it’s funny how Eli can have a fairly mediocre game and get so much praise. I guess it helps to set low expectations.
Did someone say Eli? Oh here he is ..
http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/83775
Jarhead, we may have to revoke your Cowboy fan card and anyone else who posted and missed it. We played the Giants in the NFC championship game in 94 when Emmitt dislocated his shoulder and and still willed us to a win showing the heart of the best RB of all time. Madden said it was the gutsy performance that for the first time in his career he went down to congradulate Emmitt after the game.
Let the media and the Giants talk the talk because next week we are going to walk the walk. This is what we have been waiting for 10 years. A playoff team with the horse to bring it home.
Uh Squid…that was the last game of the regular season. The Cowboys were playing for homefield I believe in the playoffs. That’s why we needed such a gutsy performance from Emmitt.
What i would love:
We’re winning in the 4th, game is winding down, and
they run that watch commercial with Eli Manning!
Priceless,
Kameleon’s correct Squid-

Give up your card!
Oh sh-t!! I think your right. Is there anyway I can pull that off before Jarhead sees and tries to revoke mine. Oh well I have kids and suffering from both short term and long term memory loss. For some reason I have been thinking that was the NFC champiuonship but it was for the NFC east. I remember Emmitt having to go against the Pack and then SF with that bum shoulder..
TedR had it right. We’ll be hearing about the Giants momentum all week. That 2-2 over their last 4 games type of momentum.
Gosh, I’m just quivering in my boots over Sheli coming to town!!
:bashny:
Squid,
You don’t know how many times I’ve posted something and wished there was some way to edit it or delete it. There’s just got to be a way!!! LOL
bostonfan,
I just said basically the same thing to my neighbor. I told him that Eli only threw for 185 yards and 1 TD and he said, “Yeah, he had a great game.” WTF?? Like you said, Romo could throw for 385 yards in a game and only 1 TD and the media would be wondering why he was off.
Squidlo
We all screw up from time to time…don’t sweat it.
Well, we get the team, I didn’t want to play.
I like the game plan the Bucs used, make Eli win the game. Maybe Roy will become sick and miss the game.
Is it just me or does anyone else really dislike Phillip Rivers?? He just seems like a little girl. Ever since I saw him talking trash to Jay Cutler I started thinking he was just that, all talk. I’d like to see him sent home.
On another note, I was pretty high on WR Vincent Jackson a few years ago when he came out in the draft. He looked like a poor mans Mike Williams in that draft. He’d went to a small school I think in Colorado. Northern Colorado?? 6 foot 5 inches, around 240 lbs., and ran in the 4.5’s. He dominated the small school competition he played against. I thought he’d be a real sleeper and he really looks good for the Chargers tonight and has played decent for them all year. He’s already got 114 yards and a TD this game. That’s more than Mike Williams ever did.
How much better would the Chargers be with Drew Brees?
The Titans are playing to stop LT and make Rivers beat them. Well, Rivers and Eli Manning are at the same point in their careers.
Ok, even if SD survives this game, no way they go any further in the POs. The Colts will destroy them.
Two Coaches who should never wear hats; Wade and Norv.
squid,
its all good, and i do remember that e.smith game.
Guys,
Its because he plays for the NY Giants and his name is Eli Manning. I could care less honestly what the media says, it seems that everytime they are all over somebody else, Dallas ends up kicking the crap out of them (besides New England.) I think Dallas strives when they are being picked against. I swear, if you listen to ESPN, you’d totally forget that Dallas went 13-3.
ESPN is going to start running hit pieces any minute now on Romo and the Boys. Wilbon from PTI already has his piece in the Washington Post about Romo. It’s all good. Like AFB said, it’s nice to ALWAYS be the underdog.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/05/AR2008010502618.html
Charb, I think Wade looks good Cowboys hats. He, being more mature, actually knows which way the bill is supposed to go.
Norv gets a win in the playoffs.
Congrats to Norv. He accomplished what Marty could not.
Maybe, Wade can get a hat that fits and someone takes the stickers off before he wears it.
Emmitt’s game against NYG with the dislocated shoulder was my favorite game of all time.
Emmitt was amazing.
Guess Norv does deserver some congrats. But I know Marty is sitting at home wondering how come he couldn’t have drawn the Titans for their playoff game last year. Marty’s team last year would have spanked the Titans.
I’m 4-0 for the wildcard weekend games, I’m workin that broom, sweeeeeeeeep!! bye bye pretenders!!!
Squid
It basically was the NFC championship-bought us a bye and home field throughout-
Lose, and we’re a wild card-much tougher road, even for that team.
Many of us would consider that team on of the best of all time-But look how close they came to not even winning the division
(Emmitt’s holdout had something to do w/that)
Stopping the run is priority one as Scout has said.
I expect NYG to be very concerned with D.Ware and G.Ellis and give help on the outside. Some inside blitzes by LB’s or S should get to Manning very quickly. Stunts which bring Ellis or Ware inside should work as well as long as its a sure passing down. Stunt those guys to the inside when the Giants run and you vunerable to the outside with containment.
I do hope we play the CB’s aggressively. I don’t like how the Cb’s have sometimes given up the short stuff. Anyone who watched the Seattle game saw their CB’s play aggressively. I hope to see us do the same.
I think we need to remember to run the ball. Of course, the pass will get us points but we can’t forget to run.
I liked the no huddle Garrett pulled out and don’t mind seeing it again.
I’d get NYG to bring in an extra DB with 3 WR sets and run MB3 against a vunerable defense.
I don’t think NYG can stop the run when we go 3 wide. Their Nickel CB is weak and not as good as their base.
Home Field Advantage
Does it exist? NYG has played better on the road and Dallas better on the road. No home field advantage unless the crowd induces NYG into some penalties.
I hope Garrett brings back the motion and backfield sets with TO which were successful. It seems he’s gotten away from that but maybe because we had the division sown up.
3-1, but Tenn. was tougher than most of us thought.
Am I the only one that watches these games, and the AFC teams just look tougher and more athletic?
Like the NFC was from the late 80’s - mid 90’s.
Not just better, we know that-much more physical.
Let’s just hope TO’s healthy.
I want to see more of Ellis and Ware on the same side. I believe that when Ware forced a fumble against Wash., it was that setup again, where those 2 rush side by side.
Donnyposner,
Those are some good points about the game. I agree about playing our corners tight. I think we will do so. I think Barber will destroy them. We need to run the football in the redzone, and kill them with the big play TD pass outside of the redzone. They have not stopped it in two games.
Eric R,
That picture was funny. Maybe Eli and Kyle Orton can get together.
Good Ole Chuck says this:
“We know their team and we know what they like to do. Who knows, the third time might be a charm.”
Good Ole Chuck thinks he knows us. He talked smack before the last game, and ended up on his butt all day long. (4 sacks 2 INTs)
Keep talking! Lucy is coming to the game again.
early line has us as 7 1/2 point favorites, like i’ve said, vegas doens’t buy into hype.
of note, we are the lowest favored team with indy and GB getting 8 and NE getting 12 1/2.
I said the Nashville Titans would get beat 44-0. I am glad they lost, can’t stand them.
They played a good game on defense. Chris Hope getting hurt and out for the year caught up to them today. Micheal Griffin saved a TD, but he got caught out of position a couple of times. I think he is going to be a good player. However, their receivers suck. Young needs help. Chris Henry in the second round was a waste. No Dwayne Bowe, who would be much better than what they have out their now, to make plays for Young. However, they get an A from Gosselin in the draft.
The Titans back-up center was impressive today.
Kameleon o,
I am with you. Rivers seems like a punk at times. They would be much better off with Drew Brees at this time. They will be going home next week. However, I think their game with the Colts will be very close, I mean real close. I’ll take Manning over Rivers all day long.
“would be much better than what they have out ‘there’… #121
I wonder what shape that punk Sam Madison will be in for the game. He kicked T.O. in the head last game after a play on the sideline.
Please be ready T.O. If you are, we will destroy them.
I bet O’Hara does not play. His knee injury looked really bad.
Schockey is a crusher for them. I bet they wish they had him this week. I heard someone say Schockey couldn’t block well. He is one of the best blocking TEs in the league.
DeMarcus Ware needs to punish Dave Diehl. Ware will have fresh legs. Also, Anthony Spencer has played very well againt them. Spencer needs snaps.
Dallas needs Roy Williams to play very well in this game. I think this will be a defining game for Roy Williams. We need him to be a difference maker.
I was never real high on Griffin. I thought the Titans drafted him just a tad early. And then moving him to CB from safety was a mistake IMO. He’d be excellent as a safety with his speed. Plus, with his attitude coming out of school I thought he was another Roy.
I think the Colts/Chargers game is going to come down to the QB. Which one plays best. I can’t see Rivers doing anything special against the Colts D.
maybe Griffin would be Playing Safety, if Adam was still in uniform.
How much better would this team be with Pacman returning punts and kicks and manning a CB spot?
Scout,
I totally agree with you about Rivers. He sure does talk alot of smack for an average NFL quarterback.
I think this would be a great game for Dallas to be totally silent this week and let the Giants players run their mouths.
Is it just me, or does Brandon Jacobs run his mouth on every play? I think he’ll only be a starter for two more years, because sooner or later a defensive players is going to go to his legs hard.
My scores predictions from perviuos thread. I ended up 3/1 but my score predictions were off a bit.
W/Seattle 31, Washington 7
W/Jacksonville 27, Pittsburgh 17
Sunday
L/Tampa Bay 17, New York 10
W/San Diego 38, Tennessee 10
Tampa had better go get a starting QB somewhere. I like Garcia, but as a backup.
Tennessee was much tougher for SD that I thought they’d be. That 15 yard penalty on Haynesworth ‘just goes to show ya’. A low character guy will eventually kill you. I don’t know what the percentage is, but a 15 yard defensive penalty must result in points for the offense, most of the time.
Hey did you all here? Dallas has petitioned the league and asked if they can wear the Minnesota Viking’s unis this week. What the heck, Eli loves throwing the ball to anyone in a Vikes uniform … might as well try.
There’s been a lot made of us having to sweep the Giants for a 3rd time. It was first reported that teams going for the season sweep in that 3rd game were an abysmal 11-42 I believe.
Now DMN is reporting that it’s actually not as hard as it was first made out to be. Teams that are going for the sweep, with the 3rd game coming in the playoffs, the record is 11-6. That’s not bad.

I keep forgetting that you can’t post links to DMN’s blog on here. Haha.
Kameleon o,
They definately took Griffin too high. They could have taken Ross for crying out loud. He has played well or them.
I saw that too. Breerman says the Giants were “respectul” to the Cowboys after the game, but I bet to differ.
“I don’t think it bothers anyone to play in Dallas”.
Micheal Strahan
Now, do you really need to say that. You can think it, but it is disrespectful to the team you are playing. What he is really saying is that they don’t think Dallas and their “Golden Child” is all that.
What if one of our players said, “I don’t think it bothers anyone to play in Green Bay”. How do you think the Packers’ players would think about that statement. Do you think it would be on the bulletin board? I do.
I know our players can’t stand their players, and I know the Giants have given our guys enough bulletin board stuff to last over their entire careers. Furthermore, I know that at this point, their cocky, boastful bull doesn’t mean bull right now. This is the divisional playoffs. Talk is cheap. I hope the ‘Boys take Squidlo’s advice and just kick their cans on Sunday. Let the NYFIs talk all they want to.
I can’t go to the game. The Cowboys’ fans need to hold Strahan accountable for his brash and cocky statement. He is living in the past in regards to his success against Dallas. You all need to get loud! REAL LOUD! Give the ‘Boys the advantage they deserve. I want Neyland Stadium noise. You can’t hear yourself think. I am challenging anyone attending that game to scream.
Dallas has the psychological advantage in this series now. That is why the Idiots talk so much. They are trying to convince themselves that they can beat us. Furthermore, you get all the excuses from their players after their last three losses to the Cowboys. It is all well documented.
Never underestimate the psychological advantage.
Romo 3
Giants 1/2
Also, Kiwanuka (?) Mithias is not there. If Ohara is out, they will get the heat up the middle in a heavy dose. Also, I hope the Tampa heat took something out of them.
The Giants swept the Eagles in 2000 on their way to their Super Bowl.
It’s already starting on ESPN. Merril Hodge just said that if Eli Manning plays against us the way he did against the Bucs then this game against us could be a different story. Hmmm, he threw for 185 yards and 1 TD today. If there was any way I could lock him into that right now I’d do it in a heartbeat!!! I guess when you’re horrible you don’t have to show much to get people to think you’ve had a good game.
Hodge talked about the Giants pressure and how that would be the key in this game and how Romo has lost what he likes to call “rhythm” in the passing game. Didn’t mention how they all said the same thing about the Gints pressure before the last game. How many times did they sack Romo again?? Twice and one of them was just a gimme?? We sacked Sheli 5 times. They better worry about our rush.
At the end they made sure to mention that the Giants are now 8-1 on the road this season. Then they had to mention that the one road loss came to us. Sigh…they never learn, do they??
