Ugh. I guess it really is the dead time of year if this is all there is.

    IN RESPONSE TO SOME:
Two years ago I said Roy Williams was worthless.
Most said he was a great Pro Bowl player.

Was I right? Was I wrong?

Do you think it matters either way? There are two trees. One stands straight up, very strong but does not bend. The other is willowy, thin, but bends easily. A hurricane comes and the strong tree breaks while the other bed in the wind. Beliefs are as such. Believe all you want while realizing one’s belief is just the imaginary musings of the mind. You are not right or noble because you say so even when you are conservative, believe in God, Pro-Life, head the Country credo, and think murder is wrong.

Marx and Engels started with the observation that everything in existence is a combination or unity of opposites. (Communism)

Why can a friendly Taoist believe some are a waste of DNA?
The concept of yin and yang describes two opposing and, at the same time, complementary (completing) aspects of any one phenomenon. In viewing any one phenomenon (or the comparison of two phenomena), yin and yang describe the opposing qualities inherent in it.

    FOOTBALL:
My hashed potato brain actually thought Training Camp started in just 5 days. I was obviously a month off. While this season should be incredibly fun. It’s also going to be one of the more difficult seasons due to the highest expectations a team could have. Most SuperBowl winners don’t come close to having these expectations. With that, I think the Cowboys are ready.

Here are some things I like:
    1. Newman helping the young WRs.
    2. Henry covering the TEs.
    3. A RB who motions into the slot.
    4. Tank Johnson the beast.
    5. Zach Thomas + Kevin Burnett equals better underneath coverage.
    6. The BEST CB core in the NFL probably EVER.
    7. Pacman behaving and working hard.
    8. Hearing HURD & AUSTIN have made strides.
9.. Less playing time for Roy Williams

Things I’d like to Improve during camp:
    1. Martellus Bennett learning curve.
    2. A FB opening eyes.
    3. Isiah Stanback taking leaps. (He’s well behind Hurd & Austin current)
    4. Henry getting more reps at FS.
    5. Terry Glenn practicing wit Team

The Cowboys are picking up on the SN trends. They have done a decent job. My guess is the Cowboys will be outdone by some innovative thinkers with entreprenuerial spirit. People I know.

Our local paper is a subsidiary of Gannet, and they use Pluck. It’s awful software.

    Donny -

re FS - SOB seems adamant that Henry is not playing FS this year, but is leaving the option open for the future. Given our apparent abundance of riches at CB (assuming no injuries / busts / jail-time etc) this is hard to understand.

    S is a worry - a holdout, a head-case, a 4th rounder who struggled as a rookie and a 7th rounder who has barely played a down.

NT also makes me a little nervous too. I think rotation is a must and I am not convinced Tank is that good. Would love to see Ratliff rotating through the end spot. Maybe Siavii would surprise us and get into the rotation.

But I look at the overall strength of the roster - and the continuity - and the above is really at the margin.

this is the season to complete some UNFINISHED BUSINESS….

    hamlin is not a holdout.

he is not under contract, he has until mid july to get under contract. since he is not practicing/playing he is not under much risk for injury. he is simply waiting to see if dallas ups their offer. meantime, reports are that he is working out and staying in touch with defensive coaches. These are not indicators that he intends to hold out of training camp.

i’d be surprised if he wasn’t in camp. it also wouldnt surprise me to see him get a deal done before camp, but he may just play under his franchise money and opt for UFA again next year.

In the last post, there were questions of McFadden and Jones’ fumble stats. Here’s what I found:

    Darren McFadden’s NFL.com draft profile
“However, he did fumble the ball 15 times, with the opposition recovering five of them.”
    http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/darren-mcfadden?id=284

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/felix-jones?id=931#player-profile-tab-set-1:player-profile-tab-analysis
Felix Jones fumbled 3 times in the USC game in 2006. In 2006, he had 6 fumbles; in 2007 only 1 (in the first game against Troy)
I’m not sure if this is accurate. It’s from his NFL.com draft profile as well, but the context it’s written in is a bit strange. It makes it seem like this may be how many times he fumbled by not catching a pitch-I hope not.
Everything I read made it seem as though Jones had fumbling issues early on, but got better each year.

    Tex,

For one who saw infinite talent in Hopalong Henson, how is it that you cannot see the majestic athleticism of The Juggler? Oklahoma was mesmerised by that fellow’s skill and concentration, incidentally two qualities not particularly associated with Henson during his Cowboys’ tenure. In fact I would wager that The Juggler could contribute more to the team as a surehanded walk-on receiver (given the obvious need) than your man under center ever did. Before you dismiss mime as an art form, beware, lest the next video serves up Henson reprising in mime the role of an NFL QB (picture him holding the classic Johnny Unitas pose).

Finally, as we’re in the depths of the off-season, I challenge you to break free of your curmudgeonly stereotype and in your next post to emphasize something genuinely positive and upbeat in nature - beyond the celebration of your personal wealth, polo skills, holidays with Aikman, Pacific vantage point, oil profits, etc.

All my concerns about Roy and When’s Henry going to be FS is marginalized due to our new DB coach. He will make the difference! There are only two worries I have this year,
    a. Reciever, reciever, reciever………..
    b. Health

Every other spot seems to have been addresed or upgraded in some way.

Alright I know I’m not the only one who got paid today so all you other bloggers/lurkers who got paid too need to make a donation to the camp fund. I will be drinking rail liquor instead of top shelf at happy hour today, but camp coverage is well worth the sacrifice.

I’m trying to update it once a day.
