Hey guys, not meaning to change the subject, but if anyone is looking to get another jersey for the season my friend showed me this cool site.

    http://stores.specialjersey.com/StoreFront.bok

He already got one and said it was legit. I ordered a TO one today. Its the cheapest price I’ve seen for any jersey really.. just limited supply.

Raf, how is it looking with regard to having the show picked up for the regular season?

Comment: Drew Pearson was a phenomenal playmaker and it was an absolute privilege to watch him light up the NFL in the 70s. He earned his “Mr. Clutch” reputation from a young age. He was the epitome of a dependable performer, to whom Staubach instinctively looked when the game was on the line. As a close follower of the team in the 70s, I put Drew Pearson among the small group of truly elite 70’s Cowboys’ players including Staubach, Randy White and Dorsett. It is a farce and outrage that he is not in the Ring of Honor!

On my lunchbreak I took your request for questions seriously… obviously too seriously. Sorry for the overkill, but here are several questions from which to choose, if you so desire. Maybe Drew P. will answer a few of them in an e-mail if not on the air. Thank you very much.

Q: Drew Pearson was known for running brilliantly precise routes. My general memory of him is catching the circa 15-yard pass that was critically important, often times a sideline timing pass that reflected just how in tune he was with Staubach. Was route-running a discipline he perfected to somewhat compensate for less than world-class speed?

Q: Which victory was more fun: the Hail Mary, the Longley bomb to beat the Redskins on Thanksgiving (an absolute shocker to the Skins in the peak years of the rivalry), or the remarkable comeback he led over Atlanta in the playoffs?

Q: Did he ever drop a pass that cost the Cowboys a game? Is there one in particular he wishes he could have back?

Q: While Staubach retired as the highest rated NFL QB (at the time), his numbers were not as high as later QB’s who played in pass-happy offenses and after key rules changes gave more advantages to the receivers. How would Staubach and Drew Pearson’s numbers look were they playing today?

Q: Where does he place himself among all-time NFL great receivers: top 10, 20 or 30?

Q: How does he assess the Cowboy’s receiving group, beyond TO? Are they adequate, or will two or three of them be replaced within the next year?

Q: Does he agree with me that most championship teams have two very good or excellent receivers and two good ones? For example Drew Pearson’s teams fielded him, Tony Hill, Butch Johnson and Golden Richards, each of whom made big plays in big games.

Q: Does he believe Butch Johnson’s SB XII catch was a legitimate reception? I know the ground can’t cause a fumble but that did seem questionable.

Q: On Tom Landry: What is your level of respect for him as a man and a coach? Someone on this blog once suggested that the reason the Cowboys had to engineer so many comebacks was because Landry’s playcalling was too conservative in the first 3 quarters. Does he see a shred of truth in that? How does he judge Landry’s place in history, including as an offensive strategist and play-caller? Was he innovative? Often characterised as stoic or formal, was Landry fair to players and/or generally well liked? How does he view the criticisms of Landry by Pete Gent, Duane Thomas, Skip Bayliss, etc.

Q: From his perspective, how close were the Cowboy’s SB losses to the Steelers? Were those losses down to slightly superior talent, being outcoached on the day, or something else? SB 13 started so promisingly with Dorsett reeling off huge gains.

Q: As a general statement, what value does he place on height in an NFL receiver? I think it is a major advantage, part of why I had hoped the Cowboys would draft Sweed or Hardy - though my knowledge of them is not exactly deep.

Q: Was it as much fun as I imagine it to have been to be on the sidelines watching the great Cowboys defensive fronts, led by White, Martin and Too Tall? I believe I once read that Walter Payton said Randy White hit him as hard as any player. Was he as tough as they come?

Q: What was it like to walk out of the tunnel at RFK at the height of that rivalry, with the stands shaking?

Q: Whom does he view as the best opposing DB and WR that the Boys faced during his years?

I agree with Oklahoma that Drew was among an elite few that were the primary faces of the 70s Cowboys. Roger indicated that it was Drew’s clutch play that put him in the Hall of Fame; Drew belongs in both the Ring of Honor (should have gone in before the Triplets IMO) and Hall of Fame.

Question: What is the issue with Jerry/Cowboys that has resulted in Drew’s exclusion from the Ring of Honor???

When I was a kid, playing in the park, I always pretended to be Drew Pearson.

Been trying to stream the radio show, but I’m getting a repeat of the show from the other day with Raf, Grizz and Shango.
Even reopening through the link doesnt change it for me. Is that what is being played or is there a problem on my side?

    Joey2Z’s

I thought about the same thing. Imagine having T.O. and Smith on the same team. DAMNNN!!!
Besides the fact that I don’t think they would want to get rid of him (if the choice is Ken Lucas or Steve Smith, is there really any choice?), I don’t think we could pony up enough to get him from Carolina and I don’t think we could afford both on the same offense, with all the money already doled out and money still to come for Ware and Canty.

    but it would be cool….

When we do not have a live show, we’re replaying the previous show. After today, we’ll replay the last 3 shows.

We’re live now with Drew Pearson.

Got something to say?
